It’s day 6 of our 30 Days of Gratitude. Do you notice a difference in how you are looking at things? I always do when I stop to think about all I am grateful for.

Today I am grateful that I have friends who challenge me to think outside the box. My friends are a diverse group of people, some I met in past years in the healthcare industry, some who are in direct sales, actually some from all walks of life. I love it.

Coloring Book
Some time back, my friend, Nae, sent me a gift. It was during a time when people were doing a pay it forward thing and you sent something to five people. I saw her post, signed up, and I knew that whatever she sent, it would be unique. I opened the package when I received it to find an adult coloring book and a pack of colored pencils. I have to say my first reaction was “What?! I haven’t colored in years, that’s for kids.” And so I let it sit for awhile.

Then one day I just decided to open up that book and play with it. I am so glad I did. I now have purchased several adult coloring books, the one above being one of them. It is so incredibly relaxing! And it tends to bring out the kid in you. Remember those days when you colored for hours and you didn’t care what color something “had” to be? Coloring just lets you express yourself in a different way. I now have those books and my pencils and crayons next to my bed. It is often my way to relax in the evenings before I go to sleep. While I’ve never considered myself to be very creative, this gives me a creative outlet that I am quite enjoying.

Thank you, Nae, for seeing something I never would have imagined. You picked the perfect gift and I am so glad you did! I love that my friends think outside the box, and in doing that, challenge me to do the same!

Now over to you! What are you thankful for today?
