As you know from my earlier posts, I’m working on my new book Standing on the Promises, with the hope that it will be ready for market mid year. Writing about the promises in the Bible is a pretty amazing journey. I find so many reminders as I work on this one.

A couple of weeks ago I moved from a “corporate America” job to coming back home to work from home. I had a plan. I had a contract with an educational facility for a project, I would teach my online classes, and I would do the things I am loving with South Hill Designs. It was all laid our very nicely. In doing all of that, my family needs would be covered and I could return to doing the things I really loved.

Did you read that correctly? I had the plan. I knew how things were going to work. Oh what happens to us when we think we are in charge! Three days after leaving that job, my contract was put on hold. The other contract I have been working on has been extremely slow in getting any momentum so that wasn’t going well. I took last weekend and started to really look at things with a bit of worry. And then I remembered, I have a verse that i have claimed for my life:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

I had to say “do you really believe that?” As a matter of fact, I do. And so I had to remind myself that there are plans for my life that I don’t personally make. In that same verse it is a promise to prosper, not to harm, but to give hope and a future. I love that verse and have loved it even more the last two years when it really spoke to my heart. It was a reminder that I am indeed not in charge. It was a reminder to not worry, focus on the things that matter and are important, and see where things take me.

And so this week, what has happened. Well simply awesome. First, I have a new team member on my South Hill Designs team! Tomorrow I will add another. Three more have inquired about the opportunity and asked for more information. I added two more chapters to my book. Our online program added a new student this week. And then the education facility called asking if I would work on a different project until we can move forward on the previous one. As my husband often says, “All is well.”

I find it so amazing how things work like this. It doesn’t mean I didn’t work on all of these things. What it does mean is that when I stopped worrying about what the plan for the future was, the future fell into place. I love how things come together when we stop and realize that God has a plan, even when we don’t know what it is. It is one of the reasons that my locket has a coin in it that says “blessed,” because I truly am.

In what ways have you seen promises come together in your own life? I’d love to hear your story!
