Kathy Nicholls family

It’s day two! I so look forward to this month where we celebrate gratitude. Even though it’s something we should be doing every single day, it seems November brings more focus to things we are grateful for.

Today I am grateful for my awesome family. My immediate family is my totally fantastic husband and our wonder dog, Turbo (pictured above). I am so incredibly blessed.

My husband and I married a little over 6 years ago. It was one of those things I swore I would “never do again.” And yet, God put him in my life, with the patience of Job to put up with all of my resistance, and here we are. He is my greatest cheerleader and such a support in everything I do. I am so wonderfully taken care of by this man. I could not have imagined having this kind of blessing in my life and am grateful for him on a daily basis for all he is and does.

Then we have our fur baby, Turbo. Turbo’s older now, it’s hard to believe he’s 14 already. In human years, that’s getting up there in age! And yet, he still makes me smile every single day. There was a time when I just didn’t understand all people felt for their fur babies. All I can say to those of you who still don’t get it is get a dog. They will change your life.

There are so many lessons to be learned from our dogs–unconditional love is perhaps the greatest one. They don’t expect anything of us, except that we love them and feed them, let them out now and than. And for those minimal things, they love us unconditionally. Even as he ages, Turbo is always happy when I walk in the door. He always greets me with joy. Who else does that for you in your life? And yet, we could learn so much from the wisdom of our pets.

And so, today I am incredibly blessed with an awesome husband and a loving animal, both making my life better and my days brighter.

Now it’s your turn! What are YOU thankful for today? I can’t wait to see what you add! Take a minute and invite your friends along in this journey with us by using the share bar on the left of this post! Leave your daily thoughts on what you are grateful for in the comments! I’d love to hear them!

  1. I’m late! Glad you are doing this again Kathy. This year has so full of things to be grateful for, I don’t know where to start. I’ll start with my job. I’ve had some incredible opportunities this year to learn and grow…and “when one door closes, another opens” has been very true for me. I’ve learned many new skills, re-connected with an old friend which led to a great job, and am back in nursing school. So many things!

  2. Deb, always good to see you stopping by! Glad to hear the job is going well for you. It’s very true about those doors closing and opening! I’m excited to hear more about nursing school for you. Way to go!
