Today is one week since we started our gratitude challenge. And today I am grateful for lazy, relaxing days!

It’s also one week since the time change for daylight savings time. I’ve never really noticed that much, but oh boy this year is different!

I’m usually up between 5 and 6 in the morning. I was never a morning person until I lived in Barbados and then I somehow just started rising early. Then we came to the States, and I didn’t do that so much. About a year ago, I did an early to rise challenge and started getting up early again.

Now, here we come to daylight savings time. My brain just hasn’t wrapped itself around it. What that mean is that at 4 a.m., I am wide awake and ready or coffee! Yikes! Sometimes I try to just go back to sleep. That hasn’t been working. So it’s up and about, grab the coffee, and head to the porch!

Today, that was the morning routine. About 10:30, my brain and body seemed to catch up with the early rising and I found myself extremely sleepy. So, it was nap time! And that’s why I love a lazy, relaxing day. There’s nothing pressing on the calendar today so I could do that nap.

Do you have days when you don’t have a thing planned that absolutely has to get done? I’m trying to build some of that kind of time into my schedule these days. It’s just refreshing to have a day where you can just relax, read a good book, take a nap, curl up and watch a movie, whatever your heart desires. Today, I am very grateful for that kind of day.

Now over to you. What is on your gratitude list today?

  1. I’m really grateful for all of the Veterans and spectators who weathered the morning chill and came out to watch the parade today. It’s truly an honor to celebrate our veterans any day of the year as they have sacrificed so much for us! (And for those that were unable to weather the cold, I hope you are having a wonderfully warm day!)
