Sometime last year, a good friend of mine sent me a package. It was a part of the pay it forward campaigns you often see on Facebook. I opened the box to find an adult coloring book and a set of colored pencils. I must admit, my first response was “well isn’t that nice,” and I put them aside. I’m not creative, so I couldn’t imagine why she sent me a coloring book. (Thanks, Nae, I will always be grateful for you doing this!)
A few months later, I found myself just needing to relax. Life had become stressful, I was working way too many hours, and we had lots of family things happening. As I cleaned my office that day, I ran across that gift. So I decided to get it out and see what all the fuss was about. And I fell in love!
There is something totally relaxing about sitting down and coloring. Your brain just shuts down to the stress of the day and you become totally focused on what you are creating. I believe it takes us back to those days of carefree childhood, where life was simple and easy. And these days, you can find a coloring book for just about everything. My books now are mostly either inspirational quotes, or Bible verses. I even, on occasion, make my own picture to color like the one above. I wanted something to color with my life verse on it, wasn’t finding it, so I created it! And colored away! For me, those types of books are also times when I am reminded of what’s important. On top of the relaxation of coloring, I am getting the reminder of either that positive quote or Bible verse. It’s a double win!
My Favorite Product!
As I have explored coloring the past few months, I came across gel pens. My husband would tell you that my coloring books and gel pens have taken over our house. He doesn’t get it and has no real interest in it, although he’s so very supportive every time I finish a masterpiece! I got several different brands of gel pens, tried them all. That is, until I purchased my very first set from Super Doodle! I often leave Amazon reviews on products, and on this one, I wrote simply that I loved them and only wished they came in more colors (my pack had 36 pens). Imagine my surprise when I received a reply from them in less than an hour! I have never had a company reply to my review or comments on Amazon. Super Doodle indeed now has a 50-pen pack! And yes, I have a couple! I love them because they go on smoother than some others I have tried. I love the vibrant colors and the variety they offer. I’ve also not had my pictures smudge with these pens. And I love that the company is so responsive.
Now, the folks at Super Doodle are very generous, so guess what?! They have given me a set of their pens to give away to someone right here on this blog! There are three things you need to do to enter this drawing!
1. Leave a comment here about what your favorite thing is about coloring.
2. Share this post with your friends on social media using the share bar at the left of this post.
3. Like the Super Doodle fan page on Facebook!
I will be drawing a winner and announcing it on Monday morning! Invite your friends and someone will be getting this awesome set of 50 gel pens! I can’t wait to hear your comments and see who wins! Ready, set, go!
I love coloring because my mind is completely transported to a calm space. I enjoy picking out what I think are the perfect colors for the image. I love that I can share the process with my family and that they are so supportive and encouraging..
Coloring has always been my favorite hobby. I’ve always wanted to be an artist, but was never really all that good at drawing, so coloring was the next best thing. Im really loving this ‘adult coloring’ trend, as more and more options are becoming available for quality adult coloring books.
My favorite thing about coloring is that it gives me time to relax and focus on something I enjoy other than hurting. Thank you and Blessings.
I really would love to win this.
Thank You for Sharing.
Im not artistic at all but coloring lets me be creative and just have fun. It’s kinda nice to really get into a pic, zone out and not realize how much time you’ve spent coloring.
I just found out about these pens today. They came highly recommeneded by a woman that SuperDoodle is now sponsoring. So….I ordered a set… Looking forward to using them.
Coloring is my new go to thing. It doesn’t need a pattern. It doesn’t require a ton of money. It just smooths me out and allows me to create without a lot of brain power. I’m an artist. So I know what occurs during creating things. Coloring is a new experience. I don’t have to think about it!
Id love to have this.. It helps with stress and it brings me and my girlfriend closer
What I enjoy most about coloring is that it makes my mind slow down enough to focus as well as work through whatever is bothering me…
One of the reasons I love to color is because it gives me a chance to spend some real, quality time with my kids. We all love to color, to chat and to have fun together.

I suffer with copd and depression so some days I really struggle to do anything but colouring is so relaxing and so peaceful. I love gel pens because the colours are so vibrant.
I love coloring. My favorite thing about coloring is my 13 yr old special needs son can enjoy it with me. He has taken an intrest and is working on building his collection of supplies and books. These would be a perfect addition to our collections.

Coloring helps me to relax after a busy day.
I love it bc it is an activity that both of my kids love doing with me. We are able to spend time together doing something we all love and showing each other our progress. Plus, I love coloring after they go to bed and it completely helps me relax.
Coloring in the evening helps me forget what conflicts I’ve had during the day. It makes me peaceful!
I love the relaxation that comes from coloring for me.

I have just started colouring and I love it. I find it very relaxing, makes me think on the what colors i want next keeps the brain relaxed but active.
I’ve been coloring for several years (before the boom) to help with my bipolar disorder and pain control for fibromyalgia. It helps! Plus I have something pretty to show for it at the end 🙂
I started coloring last summer, I went to visit my mom and she lives by herself and she and I started coloring together on my visit. It has been great for her and very relaxing for me. When I have a bad bad, I pick up my book and start to color. I have always loved crafts but never seem to finish something as much as I try and with coloring I can finish a page and feel a sense of accomplishment. Wish I had done this long ago.
I have loved coloring since I was young. I can’t believe how popular it is now!
I love that I can kind of escape reality while I am coloring. I don’t have to think about everyday stresses because I can just focus on what I am coloring.
My favorite things about coloring are all the different choices in colors. I love colorful items! Plus coloring helps me relax and takes my mind off pain from chronic myeloid leukemia and the daily chemo. Coloring has truly been a sanity saver!
I love your blog! Coloring has been very therapeutic for me as well as fun! I have met some great people and opened up to a whole new world, like Alice in the rabbit hole lol.
I love how coloring allows me to quiet my brain for a while while focusing on creating something. I have a coloring journal so after im relaxed I can write.
Both my mom and I color. I find it very relaxing and for my mom, who is 82 coloring keeps her mind sharp 🙂
I’m new to adult coloring but I love it. I have arthritis in my hands and I can’t use the colored pencils but the gel pens work great & allow me to color longer without as much pain. Coloring really helps you find your “happy place” when life gets too stressful. With 5 kids I don’t have as much free time as I’d like lol but I enjoy coloring when I can.
