Live VerseSometime last year, a good friend of mine sent me a package. It was a part of the pay it forward campaigns you often see on Facebook. I opened the box to find an adult coloring book and a set of colored pencils. I must admit, my first response was “well isn’t that nice,” and I put them aside. I’m not creative, so I couldn’t imagine why she sent me a coloring book. (Thanks, Nae, I will always be grateful for you doing this!)

A few months later, I found myself just needing to relax. Life had become stressful, I was working way too many hours, and we had lots of family things happening. As I cleaned my office that day, I ran across that gift. So I decided to get it out and see what all the fuss was about. And I fell in love!

There is something totally relaxing about sitting down and coloring. Your brain just shuts down to the stress of the day and you become totally focused on what you are creating. I believe it takes us back to those days of carefree childhood, where life was simple and easy. And these days, you can find a coloring book for just about everything. My books now are mostly either inspirational quotes, or Bible verses. I even, on occasion, make my own picture to color like the one above. I wanted something to color with my life verse on it, wasn’t finding it, so I created it! And colored away! For me, those types of books are also times when I am reminded of what’s important. On top of the relaxation of coloring, I am getting the reminder of either that positive quote or Bible verse. It’s a double win!

My Favorite Product!

Super Doodle Gel Pens
As I have explored coloring the past few months, I came across gel pens. My husband would tell you that my coloring books and gel pens have taken over our house. He doesn’t get it and has no real interest in it, although he’s so very supportive every time I finish a masterpiece! I got several different brands of gel pens, tried them all. That is, until I purchased my very first set from Super Doodle! I often leave Amazon reviews on products, and on this one, I wrote simply that I loved them and only wished they came in more colors (my pack had 36 pens). Imagine my surprise when I received a reply from them in less than an hour! I have never had a company reply to my review or comments on Amazon. Super Doodle indeed now has a 50-pen pack! And yes, I have a couple! I love them because they go on smoother than some others I have tried. I love the vibrant colors and the variety they offer. I’ve also not had my pictures smudge with these pens. And I love that the company is so responsive.

Now, the folks at Super Doodle are very generous, so guess what?! They have given me a set of their pens to give away to someone right here on this blog! There are three things you need to do to enter this drawing!
1. Leave a comment here about what your favorite thing is about coloring.
2. Share this post with your friends on social media using the share bar at the left of this post.
3. Like the Super Doodle fan page on Facebook!

I will be drawing a winner and announcing it on Monday morning! Invite your friends and someone will be getting this awesome set of 50 gel pens! I can’t wait to hear your comments and see who wins! Ready, set, go!

For me, coloring is a way to escape into whatever colorful world I want to. Each picture I do, is just my creative side taking over. I enjoy each picture, even if I am not as good as others out there. It’s still fun, to do and see how it turns out.

    Thank you.

  25. I love coloring because it allows me to use my creativity without worrying about prefection. It’s a good way to relax at the end of the day

  26. I’m recently disabled, so driving my motorcycle and camping etc are no longer my go-to for relaxation. Wheelchairs can get in the way of so many things, it’s hard to really accept that. I’ve always loved making my own postcards and doing papercrafts, so it was a very short trip to colouring in books. I can use my watercolours, pens, markers, anything at all really! I’m allowed seven hours a day for “uptime” that means in a sitting position and not in bed with my legs elevated 13 inches over my heart, and seven hours goes by so quickly. I’ve learned to give myself an hour for writing, an hour for crafting, an hour for knitting/crochet, two hours of correspondence and internet surfing, some time for eating, bathing, etc. And then, before I go back to bed, an hour of colouring or zentangle. My favourite part of the colouring is that in a day or two, I can complete a project, and it’s for me. I don’t have to frame it, or send it off to someone, or even share it with my significant other. It’s just for me. There are no rules either, if I want purple hair, I have purple hair. my last hurrah before being confined to bed for seventeen hours is just making something for me and I can do it however I like.

  27. My favorite thing about coloring is how much fun and I have deciding what to use to items to use to color and picking out my colors. It is relaxing and enjoying and I am a creative person and love crafting so it is a perfect hobby for me I get to color someone’s amazing art work and have fun.

  28. Ronnie, I love this! I also really love purple hair and it’s one of the things I Aldo love about coloring–you can make things any color you want!

  29. my favorite thing about coloring is stress relief. I have 3 kids and I work and go to school. with so many things going on I’ve got a lot to worry about coloring helps with that.

  30. I love to color cause it relaxes me and keeps hands from getting food cause I am trying to loose weight keeps me from getting yuk fingers on color pages stopped buying junk food to buy coloring books pencil etc

  31. I think my favorite thing about coloring is how relaxing it is. And if I’m having trouble relaxing while I am coloring, I can see it. The picture will start to get messy and maybe I will be pushing the marker, crayon, or colored pencil too hard. But I can actually see that my mood is affecting what I’m doing, and I’m able to put it in check. It helps me to control my emotions that way. It’s true of writing too, but there’s something about coloring that also has an innocence to it. When I’m writing, the end result is something that is supposed to please others…when I’m coloring, nothing is expected of me. It’s to please myself. Clearly, I cannot pick only a single reason!

  32. I love how coloring lets me escape the world for a bit and drift off to a cozy cocoon somewhere else.

  34. I am very artistic and try to encourage my kids to be as well…. We’ve been coloring together for years…. Lol I was doing it before out was cool! I’m super happy I don’t have to color dora the explorer or monster high pictures now! My girls have their books and I have mine now…. Although now this has gotten so popular it is next to impossible to find large packs of pens colored pencils or markers with a decent variety of colors….

  35. I love colouring as it’s given me a creative outlet that I didn’t expect to have. I’ve also found some amazing friends on Facebook through the hobby. Would love these pens! xx
